2013 Admissions Policy Consultation

Consulting stakeholders about changes to our Admissions Policy for 2013

A new School Admissions Code is at the moment before Parliament as part of the new Education Act which is expected to receive Royal Assent at the end of January 2012.

In the light of the proposed new legislation, the Governing Body has decided to make two small changes to our Admissions Policy for 2013 entry.  The changes can be seen highlighted in paragraphs 12 and 13 of the attached document.  The changes are subject to the new draft Admissions Code going through Parliament.

The change in Paragraph 12 is needed because we now have to give the same priority to children who were previously in public care as we do to children who are currently in public care.  The change in paragraph 13 relates to how we band the children who are successful in the 10% MFL aptitude test.  This change only affects Year 7 applicants.

It is a legal requirement that the school consults all stakeholders and interested parties before determining the policy over an 8 week period until 1st March 2012.  Therefore your comments are invited on the attached proposed policy.  Your comments should be received in writing before 31st March 2012, addressed to Mrs G Brown, Vice Principal.

There will be a public meeting for any interested parties to be held at 5.30pm in the school's Performing Arts Centre on Monday, 30th January 2012.  Those attending will be able to ask questions about the changes and also give their comments.
